In a small village near the town of Niddham, thirteen-year-old Whilamena Wychelm witnesses the disappearance of her father and brother at the Abbey along with the mysterious flashing lights and bell ringing. She is then struck down with the mysterious hexadown sleeping virus, which causes her to sleep 6 days every week. Whilamena then befriends Timothy, the greengrocer's son, who must travel through a time portal to the future to cure her of the sleeping disorder and find her missing father and brother.
