Jane Hamilton has been an award-winning crime reporter for 25 years.
She started as a volunteer writer with a local freesheet until she graduated with a degree in Radio Broadcasting.
She was a general reporter at the Edinburgh Evening News before becoming their Crime Reporter.
It’s been crime ever since and there isn’t a national newspaper in Scotland she hasn’t written for or a major crime story she hasn’t worked on.
Her job has taken her all over the world and she worked with the US Marshals on an international fugitive hunt. She has solved a murder and was instrumental in a 35-year-old murder being solved by police.
Her work has changed laws including the rules for multiple post mortems on murder victims.
She left The Daily Record in 2022 after her second eight-year-stint as their crime reporter. She is now freelancing as a journalist and broadcaster and published a best-selling book of fiction short stories last year.
She is currently writing a true crime book which will be published by Mirror Books later this year.
